Son of Galliano, Giorgio Ferro was born in Murano in 1931. He studied at the Carmini State Institute of Art in Venice.
From 1951 to 1955 he worked as designer at A.V.E.M. 's, glass factory founded by Antonio Ferro and sons, Galliano Ferro and Emilio Nason. Giorgio took the place of the previous designer Giulio Radi, deaad early.
In 1952 Ferro presented at Biennale of Venice the glass series "anse volanti", one of the masterpieces of A.V.E.M.
In 1955, he followed his father Galliano who opened his own glass factory. Giorgio became the director and, in 1972, the principal.
The exhibition La Fratelli Toso arrives in Altare (SV)
The masterpieces realized by the glass factory Fratelli Toso between 1930 and 1980 arrives in the beautiful museum Museo dell'Arte Vetraria in Altare, a little medieval town in Liguria, with a long tradition in glass making.
Inside an Art Nouveau style villa, you can retrace the most important moments of the Fratelli Toso glass factory throughout the 50 historical pieces on show, in addition to several sketches and historical pictures.
